Do you have questions about audits or the annual financial report process for your fire district? There is a new resource here to help at the North Dakota State Auditor’s Office called the Office of Good Government. The purpose of this office is to provide educational resources and serve as an avenue to assist various local governments across North Dakota with accounting and financial reporting questions, at no cost.
During the 68th Legislative Assembly, Senate Bill 2004 was passed. Allowing the Auditor’s Office to hire a Training and Education Coordinator, which is me, Pearl LaCoursiere! I can answer any questions related to preparing financials, local government accounting, and annual financial reports. Common types of questions I get from fire districts are pertaining to gaming, equipment purchases, and bidding requirements for large purchases. If you have similar questions, call the North Dakota State Auditor’s Office and ask for Pearl!
All fire districts that receive taxpayer money are required to report annual financial information to the North Dakota State Auditor’s Office. If you are not sure if you are current on your submitted reports, follow these steps:

- Use the search function and look up your districts name.
- If you find you are not current, don’t worry, give me a call and we’ll work together to develop a plan to get your entity up to date.
