Assistant Chief Corey Johnson with the City of Williston Fire Department will conduct two separate webinars using the Zoom platform to help agencies apply for the AFG. Chief Johnson has participated as a peer review panelist for the AFG, SAFER, and Fire Prevention grant programs. He has used lessons learned from this process to successfully write two AFG grants for his own department.

During these webinars, participants will be provided with a basic overview of the grant program, requirements and restrictions for the grant, and tips for writing a successful application. Sessions are as listed:

Introduction to the AFG (1.5 hours)

  • July 16th at 11:00am
  • July 17th at 6:00pm

To register for any of these free webinars, log in to the NDFA website and sign up! Links to the webinars will be sent to students within two days of the session so make sure to update your member profile with a valid email address.

If you have any questions, call the NDFA Office at 701-222-2799.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) is a federal grant program administered by FEMA since 2001 and is the largest federal grant program that awards funds directly to local fire departments. This grant program has been a long-standing program that shows no signs of going away anytime soon.
