November marks Carbon Monoxide Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO) and the simple steps North Dakotans can take to protect their families. 

State Fire Marshal Doug Nelson has released the following statement regarding preliminary findings of wildfires that began in northwestern North Dakota on Oct. 5.

Gov. Doug Burgum has proclaimed Oct. 6-12, 2024, as Fire Prevention Week in North Dakota with the theme of “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!”

In the wake of wildfires over the weekend affecting parts of North Dakota, Insurance Commissioner Jon Godfread and State Fire Marshal Doug Nelson are reminding residents of the necessary steps to protect themselves and their property during the recovery process.

Preliminary data shows North Dakota saw a slight decrease in fires from 2023 compared to 2022.
